Back to school can be a stressful time for both parents and children. A great way to reduce the stress is to keep it simple and plan ahead. Start with a trip to your local store. We like to involve our children, letting them help you pick the foods makes it more fun for them. Offer them a few varieties of the same brand and let them pick their favorites. Nature’s Harvest® Bread & Entenmann’s® Little Bites™ Snacks makes that easy since they offer a wide range of products that kids love. We have 3 children and we find they like to feel they are in control of what will be going in their lunch boxes.

We also find it best to put all their stuff together the night before. It really saves time on those mornings that things may not be going perfectly. After all, we all get a little lazy during the summer. Since I am a stay at home mother I am willing to admit we stay up late and sleep late during the summer. On school days we find balance by laying out clothes the night before and preparing lunches then too. This is another thing we involve our children in. We get out all the things that could be used for lunch the next day. We let the kids pick the kind of sandwich, fruit, vegetable and snack they would like to bring. Then I send them off for some free time while I pack the lunches.
I have a large collection of cookie cutters so I like to use them to make the sandwiches into fun shapes. You can use the cookie cutters to either make an outline on the bread or to cut the bread into that shape altogether. A great way to add some colors is to draw on the bread with food safe markers.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 slices Nature’s Harvest® Bread
  • jam or jelly (any flavor)
  • nut butter (any flavor)
  • shaped  cutter
  • food safe (edible) markers

INSTRUCTIONS
  • It's not rocket science, just have fun with it! I find it best if I mix the jam and nut butter together. It seems to spread smoother and make less mess.
  • use as many slices of Nature’s Harvest® Bread that you need and in the variety, your child likes best.
  • spread mixture on the bread and cut with cookie cutters.
  • **if you have food safe (edible) markers add color
Nature’s Harvest® Bread whole grain breads are baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains
per serving, and without high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors or colors.

The next part is the easiest, add your child's favorite side items! Fruits and vegetables are always a big hit and since it's the summer months you can find lots of in season goodies. A really fun thing we do is send a banana. But not just any banana! Try a doodle banana, all you have to do is use a butter knife to draw a funny face or even write a note!  Little Bites™ Snacks, a wholesome, fun snack perfectly packaged for the lunchbox and made with real ingredients and never any High fructose corn syrup or Trans Fat. We love that they are grab and go. They are perfectly portioned and prepackaged.

Did we forget anything?? HOMEWORK!!!!! We will just have to save that for another day!
