FALLEN FUDGE CAKE

August 2, 2017

This was one of the first desserts I EVER attempted to cook as a teenager. It's also known as Chocolate Hot Fudge Cake. It was found in an old southern church cookbook and was always a favorite of mine. The ingredients are items most of us already have in our kitchen. Even though this is a simple dessert it is rather rich.

FALLEN FUDGE CAKE
Time: 10 minutes prep + 35 minutes baking
Yield: 8 - 10 servings

CAKE:
1/2 stick butter
1 c. self-rising flour1 Tbsp. cocoa
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 Tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
3/4 c. water
1 Tsp. vanilla

Melt butter in 8 or 9-inch square baking dish. Mix flour, cocoa, sugar, milk, and vanilla. Pour on top of melted butter. Combine topping ingredients and pour over top of the cake....DO NOT STIR CAKE AND TOPPING. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes. This recipe makes its own sauce. It's wonderful served warm with ice cream.
