Amwell Medical Services - Using the urgent/medical care feature

As most everyone knows medical care does not always keep office hours that we can work around. Or it could also be that you live where there are no hospital or aftercare offices. That's why I was thrilled to find a medical service that works around my family's needs. Amwell Medical Services quite literally puts a doctor in the palm of your hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can visit from anywhere even on the go with no appointment needed. Amwell is the nation’s largest telehealth company, connecting families with doctors for immediate, live online visits from the comfort of your home. Amwell has given us a code for our readers to use when visiting their site
Code: MOM8
This offer will save you 25% off an urgent care visit. This offer expires 12/31/18

I was asked to try out the urgent care visit, this visit cost $59 or less depending on if you have insurance. Some of the commonly treated conditions that can be addressed in this type of visit are as follows: acne, bug bites, cold sores, flu, gout, headaches, pink eye, sinus infection, stomach flu, strep throat, UTI, and much more. After seeing the doctors that were currently available I was easily able to pick the doctor I wanted to visit. I was able to see how long my wait time would be and also had the option to have them text me when she was ready to see me. In my visit, I talked to the doctor about an issue I have recently started to have with vertigo. I had began experiencing dizziness, ringing in my left ear and some vomiting...I know so fun right? The doctor was very personable and easy to talk to, she made me feel at ease. We went over my current list of medications and any current or pre-existing conditions that I have such as sinus issues or head trauma. At the end of the consultation, we both agreed that it would be beneficial for me to see a specialist if my issue did not clear within a few days or became worse. Since using this service I am hooked and have already used it for my youngest child's seasonal allergy treatment. And we all know this time of year it is a blessing to NOT visit a doctors office due to all the germs and sickness that is going around like the flu.

I trust Amwell medical services with my family's health and well-being. I highly recommend you try it yourself to see the benefits they have to offer today. I love the fact that I can visit a doctor of my choice from the privacy of my home any time of day or night. There is no need to make an appointment weeks in advance, driving or sitting in a waiting room hoping for your name will be called soon. I felt so much more at ease, I usually get really nervous when I have doctors appointments. This is a great option for those of us that do feel anxiety over these types of issues because I felt I had more control over the terms of my visit.

  2. This service sounds interesting. I love that you see the dr at home and you pick the dr. I know we wait times in my area can be hours so this is such a great alternative

  3. I'd like to be able to do this. Most of the health plans charge you much more if you go to an urgent care center, and don't cover online visits. It must be to keep their network doctors happy, as most of their insureds would be happy to do this. I know I would, this is a good discount. I hope you are better about the vertigo, I do know some people have it when they get a little older, as an ongoing condition (comes and goes). One person I know his doc had him do certain positions that rearranged inner ear fluid or something like that.

  6. I think this is a great idea! I was scared to go to the immediate care center a few weeks ago for a sinus infection, because I was scared I would catch the flu there. This would be a great time to use a service like this.

  16. This is a great service to offer. I've got two kids and it's tough for me to go to the doctor every time a family member is sick so this is like bringing the doctor to our home!

  21. This is great info! My insurance company offers a service like this, but I haven't used it yet. I usually avoid going to the doctor because I don't want to sit for hours in a room full of other sick people.

  25. This is interesting. I've never heard of this before, but it would be helpful to have access to healthcare at the drop of a hat like this. I am very grateful that my family is healthy and is rarely ever sick, but something like this would bring peace of mind if they ever were.

  40. I don't know/understand how this really works but if it does it great. In our area we have 6 different urgent care places open 9-9 every day. Usually I can drive there, get in and out in under a hour.

  52. I love the idea of tele-docs but have never tried one. Will definitely remember Amwell the next time I need to see a doc for something simple instead of waiting for an office visit! :)

  53. I like this idea. I for one do not like to run to the doctor for colds and such.

  54. This is a nice service and one that makes great sense. I know a few EMTs who get called out for small things that a simple call like this could have avoided. I would use it if it was here, it makes good sense.
