Busy family of 5 here! One thing we can all agree on is illness does not keep office hours. It can happen anytime day or night to everyone. The past few weeks it seems like everyone in our house has been battling runny noses, sore throats, upset stomachs and more. Fall is my family's favorite time of year because the temperatures are cooler in South Georgia. And our family is spending lots of time on the football fields under that Friday night lights with our family and friends. We are not big fans of everything that can come along with it. Yep, it's cold and flu season y'all and germs and viruses are everywhere.

As most everyone knows medical care does not always keep office hours that we can workaround. Or it could also be that you live where there are no hospitals or aftercare offices. That's why I was thrilled to find a medical service that works around my family's needs. Amwell Medical Services quite literally puts a doctor in the palm of your hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can visit from anywhere even on the go with no appointment needed. Amwell is the nation’s largest telehealth company, connecting families with doctors for immediate, live online visits from the comfort of your home. They are there to give you advice and treatment on fevers, colds, flu, allergies, sinus infections, rashed, UTI and so much more.

Let's face it when you are not feeling well the last thing you really want to do is get dressed and sit in a doctors office with other sick people. Good news doctors still make house calls...well virtual house calls, but still, you get the gist of it. You don't need to leave the house! Amwell makes it amazingly simple to find a board-certified, licensed doctor for live, online visits, any time of day or night on either your phone or your computer. Plus have I mentioned they also offer urgent care services? The Amwell doctors can also write prescriptions to be sent to your local pharmacy or do refills when needed making life so much more convenient. It’s so easy and it takes only minutes to install the app or go to the Amwell website. Just create an account, put in as much or as little info as you want regarding medical history and choose a practitioner. You are also able to attach a photo so the doctor can look at your rash, bruise, bump and burn up close in real-time.

3 Tips for preventing illness during cold and flu season
  • Practice Good Hygiene – It’s very important to teach our children to practice good hygiene. Washing hands is the best way to prevent illnesses. Hand Sanitizer is a great alternative if you are in a place that frequent hand washing is not an option.
  • Help Your Immune System – It seems simple but making sure kids drink enough water and are eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, a good night's sleep is equally important.
  • Have A Plan – Know how to contact your doctor or use a service like Amwell. It allows you to easily connect to a doctor anytime day or night. Catching illnesses early is the best way to keep kids from spreading their illness.
We trust Amwell's medical services with our family's health and well-being. We highly recommend you try it yourself to see the benefits they have to offer today. We love the fact that our family can visit a doctor of our choice from the privacy of our home at any time of day or night. There is no need to make appointment weeks in advance, driving or sitting in a waiting room hoping for your name will be called soon.

  2. This service sounds interesting. I love that you see the dr at home and you pick the dr. I know we wait times in my area can be hours so this is such a great alternative

  3. I'd like to be able to do this. Most of the health plans charge you much more if you go to an urgent care center, and don't cover online visits. It must be to keep their network doctors happy, as most of their insureds would be happy to do this. I know I would, this is a good discount. I hope you are better about the vertigo, I do know some people have it when they get a little older, as an ongoing condition (comes and goes). One person I know his doc had him do certain positions that rearranged inner ear fluid or something like that.

  6. I think this is a great idea! I was scared to go to the immediate care center a few weeks ago for a sinus infection, because I was scared I would catch the flu there. This would be a great time to use a service like this.

  56. This is a nice service and one that makes great sense. I know a few EMTs who get called out for small things that a simple call like this could have avoided. I would use it if it was here, it makes good sense.
