Gramma in a Box

March 19, 2019

Hello, friends! Just when you think St Patricks is over here I am to toss a little more green at you! Please keep in mind that you can no longer order the March Gramma in a Box you still have time to hop down the bunny trail and help the Easter Bunny with some fun do it yourself sweets and treats!

In my March box, I received everything I needed to make 3 different types of treats along with very detailed directions on how to use everything in my box.  Everything was very well packaged as you can see in the photos above.

If you have been around my blog for any period of time you might know I'm a home "cookier" and make decorated sugar cookies and other treats almost monthly both for my family, to sell and also for my blog. So this subscription box and the lady that owns the company really intrigued me. Terry Chamberlin came up for the idea of Gramma in a Box after three of her grandchildren moved to Seattle. She was always boxing up cookies and treats that they could make together when they Skyped. Once she shared this idea with other friends and family, the concept for Gramma in a Box was born! Oh...Ms. Terry, you are the best Gramma EVER...please adopt my family! We'd love to be your Georgia family. 😍 Sorry I got a little off subject!

So what's in the box?
Each month you will receive three cookie and candy crafts with almost everything you need for a fun activity for kids of all ages. All boxes include homemade cookies, frosting, and sprinkles as well as candy activities such as marshmallow pops, chocolate dipped pretzels and more. Enough for 15 to 20 finished cookie/candy treats each month. Most boxes have a holiday theme and the candy and cookie projects will reflect that theme.

I absolutely adore this box! It's a great way to send anymore an interactive treat with love that can only come from a gramma. Just a reminder if you are thinking about ordering the Spring box you will need to place it by April 3rd.

I highly recommend visiting www.grammainabox.com where you can subscribe with an auto debit program for only $20 per month and the first box is only $10. There are several other options on her website as well. You can also follow her on Facebook Youtube and Instagram to see sneak peeks of the boxes for each month. We hope everyone had a prosperous month and as always, keep it Southern Y'all!

The Health Problems That Don't Discriminate

When it comes to your health, it’s really easy to think that you’re not going to get an illness, or your body isn’t going to start changing, just because you don’t fit into the typical average that it affects. But when it comes to your health, the one thing that you need to learn really quickly, is that it won’t discriminate. Young or old, male or female, there’s so many different health problems that can come your way. Yet you’ll say that you thought it could only happen to the elderly, or your thought it could only happen to males, and vise versa. But the sooner you’re more aware of the wider range of problems that might affect you at some point in your life, the sooner you can become a little more clued up about the signs and complications, and how you can deal with it effectively. We’ve come up with a list of a few health issues that people assume only fit one category of people, and how they can affect everyone.

Hair Loss
Hair loss is by far one of the most worrying things that you can go through for a female. For males, it’s just as worrying, but it’s more expected. When a man begins to go bald, it’s a sign of aging and the natural hair loss process that some are genetically coded to do. But for females, it can be a sign of a medical condition, such as alopecia. This can be caused by man things, but mainly extreme stress. Once the condition starts, it doesn’t stop. But it might not even be a medical condition that causes it. Like males, a female can just start balding, but it happens more so with the thinning of the hair and lack of ability to grow. But it’s just important to remember that hair loss can happen to anyway, and dealing with it as a female is tough, but it is easy to do with things like wigs.

Hearing Problems
Hearing problems are most likely something that you will only associate with the old. It’s so easy to think that if you’ve grown up with perfect sight and hearing, that you’ll have to be old and grey before that changes. But from any age, your hearing can start to deteriorate, and it’s actually so common for people in their 20’s and 30’s to now need hearing evaluation to see what’s causing the problems they’re having. If you do feel like your hearing is deteriorating, it’s so important that you go to see a professional sooner rather than later. The sooner you get it diagnoses, the sooner you can get on the road to recovery.

Breast Cancer
It’s so common for people to still think that breast cancer can only happen to females, but it’s now becoming even more common for males, especially those who have it in the family. Always look out for your partners health, or your children's health, and check for the signs for breast cancer in males. Articles like this will tell you how to check for the signs and symptoms.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Chocolate Strawberries

March 18, 2019

Hey there friends! I hope this Monday morning finds you all well! Unless you have been living under a rock I know by now you know we are 1 day away from the release of SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE. As it swings onto 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD on March 19 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Animation. If you didn't see it with it was in theaters now is your chance to bring it home. We were lucky and received an advanced copy for our viewing pleaser and have already watched it no less than 5 times. To go along with our viewing party I decided to make these yummy Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Chocolate Strawberries. They are very easy to make and ho doesn't love chocolate and strawberries!

INGREDIENTS
Strawberries
Chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet but you can use what you prefer)
Tipless bag or ziplock bag

DIRECTIONS

Wash and allow strawberries to thoroughly dry. Water will cause the chocolate to seize up. since you are not fully dipping these berries it's not as big of a deal but it is a good rule to remember. Also if your berries have been refrigerated you will want them to warm to room temperature so they will not sweat causing the chocolate not to stick or slip off.
Place chocolate in microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second increments. Stir chocolate each time to prevent burning.
To thin chocolate, you can add a SMALL amount of shorting to it while melting.
Add chocolate to your bag.

Either make a figure 8 or 2 roundish circles for the spider head and body. You want to make them think and wide since you will no be fully covering the strawberries in chocolate and want the spider to stand out. Now branch out with 8 arachnid legs, follow the flow of the strawberry so the legs look as if they are grasping the berries and wrapping around. Let the chocolate cool or harden then enjoy!

That's why we made this film, and we hope that feeling of empowerment is something that both audiences young and old can take away,” say Directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman.
