Lifestyles are often fast-paced in today’s world and are filled with technology, a competitive society, and even more tasks to do in a day, juggling home and work lives constantly. It’s no wonder that parenting starts to feel like a race against the clock these days. Parents are getting more and more stressed with social media influence impacting the way we think about parenting techniques, and communities being more judgmental than ever before. They are tackling the school schedules, extracurricular activities, social commitments, work life, chores and everyday tasks, and even the constant enticement to use digital devices. Most families are swept up in a whirlwind of motion and the rush to do things on time. This rush and never-ending to-do lists can easily make any parent lose the important factors of their children’s childhood. These are creativity, curiosity and connection.
This is why slow-parenting techniques exist to help parents focus on what their children need and step back from the rush. Slow parenting isn’t necessarily about stopping the daily tasks that create the everyday whirlwind because your child still needs to go to school, you still need to work or do daily tasks and chores, and you still need to attend all the social commitments. It isn’t about doing less or being lazy, but it’s about focusing on being present in the moment and giving your child the freedom to explore the world at their own pace.
What
Is Slow Parenting?
Slow parenting is
basically a parenting style to take a break from the never-ending
planning and sorting, and put them on the back burner. It encourages
a shift away from overscheduling and over-structuring your child’s
life. Instead, it invites you to give your kid the time to be bored,
to play freely, and to wonder without being directed. When adopting
this parenting style, you should step back from the pressure to meet
developmental milestones early or pack every hour with educational
value. Children are given the room to develop in their own time,
without being pushed from one activity to the next. When you do this,
you have the opportunity to truly see your child. You can uncover
what makes them laugh, what sparks their imagination, and how they
respond to the world.
The
Magic of Everyday Moments
Some of the most
meaningful memories are built in the simpler moments of life. You and
your family could be watching clouds, cooking together, building a
fort out of blankets, or taking a long walk with nowhere to be. These
quiet parts of the day help your child feel secure, loved, and seen.
It’s important to remember that what brings your kid joy goes
beyond the big outings or expensive toys. Instead, it’s these
shared, undistracted moments that make them happy and build strong
family bonds. Slow parenting encourages you to create and make the
most out of these opportunities by being mindful of how you spend
your time and what your child truly needs from you. Most of the time,
it only takes your attention and patience to make them feel loved and
content.
Letting
Go of Perfection
Slow parenting can be very
liberating because it encourages you to let go of the mounting
pressure to be perfect. You shouldn’t compare yourself to other
parents or be heavily influenced by carefully curated social media
snippets of a parent’s life. You shouldn’t even listen to the
outside noise of others' opinions. These aspects don’t matter, and
slow parenting shows you this. All that matters is what you do to
provide your child the best life possible and to make them happy.
After all, social media is only tiny moments of a family's life,
showcasing only the best moments and not showing the bad times. They
can also be fake and unrealistic, while the outside noise is only how
other parents look after their children, which may work for them, but
not for your child.
If you’re taking on slow parenting, you need to take these distractions out of your life and embrace the messy, the mundane, and the imperfect. You need to realize that there’s no single right way to raise a child. When you begin to stop comparing yourself to others, you start to focus on what works for your own family. This helps you create a healthier and happier environment for both you and your child.
Embrace Boredom
Boredom can hit your child at any moment, and that’s okay. Sometimes, you can easily panic when your child says their bored and start thinking of things to do to prevent the feeling of boredom. However, with slow parenting, you don’t have to always find the solution to boredom. You can just embrace the boredom for a little while and encourage your child to independently keep themselves occupied, such as independent play or reading. This steers them away from always needing your guidance, building their independence to grow their creativity skills.
Bringing
Back Imagination and Wonder
Because
technology is relied on more and more, such as using tablets and
accessing instant entertainment, your child won’t always get the
chance to feel bored or even put the screens down and embrace their
imagination. Slow parenting provides your child with the space to be
imaginative, to come up with their own games, and to find magic in
the ordinary. Whether it's crafting fairy houses from twigs or
writing their own bedtime stories, they will flourish when they’re
given permission to explore their creative world. It unleashes their
imagination and brings plenty of joy without staring at a screen
constantly. Sometimes, even small gestures can add to that wonder and
bring magic alive. Things like telling fairytales that are utterly
magical or bringing to life the wonder of the nature that surrounds
them allow them to feel a little bit of magic and excite them. You
could order
a letter from Santa to bring joy to Christmas (and any other time
of year), letting your child receive a surprise in the mail and know
that Santa is real.
Setting
a New Family Rhythm
Embracing slow parenting
doesn't require a complete overhaul of your life. It simply asks you
to pause more often, to say “yes” to unstructured time, and to
reconsider what truly adds value to your family dynamic. This might
mean choosing a quiet Sunday at home instead of signing up for
another club or deciding that screen-free evenings are worth the
challenge. Over time, these small shifts begin to shape a family
culture that focuses on presence rather than performance. Your
children will likely remember the times you sat with them and really
listened far more than any structured activity or event.
Head Outdoors
The outdoors and nature are a huge part of slow parenting because they provide your child with time to explore the world around them and gain new perspectives on life. Time can slow down when enjoying the outdoors, letting you take a breather from hectic daily life. Taking a leisurely stroll in the woodland to spot local wildlife or enjoying the waves splash over your feet at the beach helps your child to learn about the world and how nature works, as well as gives everyone a break. The outdoors can be a playground for kids, and they can easily find things they’re curious about and interested in.
Slow parenting doesn’t demand perfection, nor does it require stepping away from modern life. It simply invites you to move through family life with more intention and less rush. By doing so, you open the door to deeper relationships, calmer days, and a home filled with moments that matter.

For the Love of Family, a “Superior” Vitamin Was Created
As a young man Ron Beckenfeld, the owner of Superior Source Vitamins, was into fitness, always worked out, and wanted to stay healthy. So finding the right vitamins seemed like the perfect fit for him when deciding to go into business.
Ron started selling vitamins out of the trunk of his car in 1964 and in 1969 he started Continental Vitamin Company; it became a life-long passion to establish a supplement company that cares about health.
In 1998 he started Superior Source MicroLingual® due to his concern about his father’s Parkinson’s condition. “When my father developed Parkinson’s, he already had a heart condition. I realized he had problems swallowing traditional large tablets, which inspired me to find a way to help my dad and others who had similar problems swallowing the vitamins they needed.”
“My dad had nitroglycerine tablets, which are very small and dissolve instantly, and he asked me why I couldn’t make vitamins like these. This was the “ah-ha!” moment that started the evolution of instant dissolving tablets, and Superior Source was born.”
“I was also concerned about all the additives and excessive amount of other ingredients found in conventional vitamin tablets, so decided to create a vitamin that was small and pure where potency isn’t lost in the high acid environment of the stomach.”
Ron started with a B-12 quick-dissolving soft-molded tablet and continued to develop an entire line of clean and pure MicroLingual® instant dissolve tablets where users didn’t have to worry about swallowing.
“So here I am 50+ years later, still passionate and profoundly providing people with vitamin tablets that are easy to take anywhere with no water necessary and absorbed quickly into their systems.”

“We are a company built from a love for health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, and the need for a healthy and better life and continue to create new products to help all reach those goals.”
“When you want the best for you and your family, you can always trust Superior Source.”
