Adventure and Beauty in Breckenridge, Colorado

When most people think of adventure and beauty when traveling visions of a tropical beach might tickle their fancy. But then again I'm not most people. When I think of a family getaway, I dream of the breathtaking beauty of the mountains. While I'm the first to admit I'm not an athlete and snow skiing is not my thing. Growing up in South Georgia, I have always longed for the allure of the snowcapped mountains in Breckenridge, Colorado.

When planning a trip the first thing you will want to think about is where to stay. Sure, you could do the hotel or motel thing but, you are at the base of the Rocky Mountains so a cabin would be more enjoyable. Cabins in Breckenridge offer the cozy feel of a home away from home. They are also available in a large range of sizes and different prices that make it really budget friendly. There is just something about the rustic tranquility of a cabin.

The next thing you will want to take into consideration is are you going for relaxation or adventure? No matter what time of the year you travel, you will want to make the trip memorable. Skiing and snowboarding are fun if you are into that kind of thing but so is cuddling around a warm fireplace partaking in a cup of hot cocoa. You could also book a guided sleigh ride or dog sledding tour to see the pristine beauty that the mountains have to offer. Whitewater rafting, ziplining, rock climbing, rappelling, fishing, horseback riding, train rides or hot air ballooning are other great options.

Up for some retail therapy? Main Street Breckenridge is a colorful picturesque place to take a stroll and the best place to do a little shopping. There are more than 200 quaint storefronts to choose from featuring bookstores, chic boutiques, jewelry, antiques, housewares & home furnishings to art galleries, sporting goods, clothing, and dining.

Wherever your adventure takes you remember to keep it southern y'all,

  3. that photo is beautiful. I'd love to be in a nice warm cabin there. (Although, as cold as it is here in KY, that tropical beach you mentioned sounds pretty good, too!)
