Unusual Details You Can Add To Your Wedding Day

March 4, 2019

Weddings are supposed to be one of the best days of your lives. It is your day that you commit to your partner. To promise to love them and to always be there for them. The wedding itself is always going to be an enjoyable affair. What’s more to love than having all of your friends and family in one place and celebrating love? But, wedding planning can be a whole new ball game altogether.

There is no shying away from the fact that planning a wedding is stressful. You have your guest to think about, the venue, the size, what you want your day to be about and perhaps importantly how much you have to spend. Weddings can soon spiral out of control when it comes to costs, so now these days many brides try and be a little more frugal with their ideas and even create things themselves. If you are hoping to add some unusual details to your day, then here are some suggestions to help you make it unique and special for you.

Think differently when it comes to flowers
Flowers are one of those things that can be a huge part of your wedding, especially as a visual thing. Most people choose a flower they love, or perhaps means something to them. Maybe even taking advantage of certain blooms because they are in season at the time of the wedding, but you don’t always have to go for fresh flowers. A great option is to consider a succulent, or adding succulents to your bouquet. They can add a different dimension to the look of your bouquet. But you don’t need to stop there, you could also look at boutonnieres made from succulents that would add a different look to the suits the groom and groomsmen will be wearing. Other things to consider could be artificial. It is a great cost saving, and they can look fabulous as centerpieces as well as in your bouquet.

Create a DIY wedding
Maybe now is the time to start thinking about how you can add your own touches that have been made by you to give your wedding that DIY look. There are so many ways you can incorporate your own style, and by doing so, saving yourself a bit of money in the process. For starters, what about decorating the chairs for the service and meal? Most people choose seat covers and bows, but you could add different colored ribbons to the backs or just add a organza bow without the chair cover. Other ways you can add your own style is through things like the seating chart, little signs and pictures, and personal details that celebrate elements of you and your partner, such as old wedding pictures of family no longer there, for example.

Instagram your wedding for more pictures
Perhaps you want to ensure that you capture all of the wedding, but would prefer to not pay for extra time with a photographer. This is where Instagram, or other platforms online could be your saving grace. Create a hashtag that can be used to represent you and your day, perhaps the phrase “happily ever” and then your new surname, for example. Then people can snap away on their phones, which they are likely to do anyway, and you can see some of the amazing pictures you guests have taken all in one place.

Do something different instead of the standard confetti
It is traditional to throw confetti, but what about choosing to do something different instead?Maybe you could collect flower petals and have them dried, and give you giest those to throw. Or perhaps creating ribbon wands, which would look lovely as captured in an image because of the different colors you could include. Also, you could look at using sparklers if your wedding is in the evening, which could be a great way to capture an image at night.

Takeaway wedding cake
Let’s be honest here, after a big meal, a buffet, or having already eating too many canapes, your guests may be a little full to indulge in that wedding cake you took time to pick out. So why not make it a takeaway option as well as being able to enjoy it on the night? It could be that you use little mason jars, or perhaps have boxes on standby so that your guests can take your cake away at the end of the night to enjoy the following day.

Keep the kids entertained
So many people include children in their weddings these days, but often, parents can worry about how to keep them occupied during parts of the day like the speeches. Or they may worry about whether or not they can enjoy themselves for feeling like they are always needing to entertain their children. So instead, create an area just for the kids. Include coloring books, glow sticks, and other things they can enjoy playing with. Some people have took this one step further and had a creche on site or an entertainer just for the kids.

Do you want to involve your pets?
If you love your pet, then you may want to get them involved in your big day? Many venues may not allow this, but if you do have a wedding at home, or a pet friendly venue, then this could be quite possible. Perhaps you want your dog to walk you down the aisle, or your pet rabbit to be ring bearer. Whatever it is, it will be sure to add a unique detail to your wedding day.

Make it possible to stay on the dancefloor
Finally, the last unusual detail and unique touch to your dya you could think about would be to encourage people to stay on the dancefloor. Many people struggle in their shoes after wearing them all day, so supplying comfortable flip flops at the side of the dance floor could encourage people to keep on dancing. It is a great way to create a keepsake for your guests as well.

Let’s hope this has given you some ideas on how to make your wedding day a little different.
